So, today was weigh in number 3! Great success to report...lost 2.4 in the last week for a total of 6.2. That's a little over 13% of the way done! I am really working hard. Today, in our WW meeting, we discussed "being on program." So, what I have figured out is that I may not be "on program" but I am eating within my points. I think one day, I need to sit down with the materials and really see where I can make some changes for the better. I know I can do better...maybe not so much on the scale...but make some adjustments to my diet that will balance it better. Some days I eat too many carbs, other days its fruit...I need to find a way to balance it all out and make sure I am making the most of it.
Today at dinner I went a little overboard...had some things I probably shouldn't (ie chips) but tomorrow is a new day. I certainly didn't go too far off the deep end, but just craved the salty chips. I was having a bad allergy day and needed the salt. I was able to keep it in check and not eat what I might have at another time in my life.

so tell me where I'm going wrong? I've been spot on with my points, i've been getting anywhere from 2 - 3 exercise points (which I'm not really sure what to do with those)and i've been really behaving with alcohol, carbs, late night munching, etc. So why have I not lost a single pound in 2 weeks? I'm not going to the meetings - i really just can't right now, but i've got my books and my online ww, as well as ww buddy. HELP - it seems like you're figuring it out.
ReplyDeleteYou're my first comment...how exciting!
ReplyDeleteWell, I did find out recently that you can be within your points but not "on program"...so, I think that's where I have been.
What I learned the first time around was that it really depends on where you're at in the journey. My first 50 pounds came off very rapidly (within 5 months) and at a pound or two a week. But the last 50 took almost 18 months to go. During the last part, I would gain 1/2 pound here and lose 1 pound the next week...up and down, up and down...very discouraging. Though, if you look at it from a more positive vantage...I was learning to maintain.
Have you been losing regularly up to now? Are you not losing...or are you losing slower than you'd like...or slowed down since you started. From what I've read, our bodies become "used to" what we give them. Some advice I've gotten in the past is to shake it up a bit. Try a different exercise...add more exercise...try some new foods... I found that my weight fluctuated at various times of the month (for women). I found that my weight varied if I ate out too much (even if I was within my points). I found that my weight varied if I was on medications. All these things I tried to document in my daily food journal, so that if I noticed a trend or a gain...I could look back and see if I could explain it.
From what I understand from my meeting leader at our last meeting, you should eat your earned exercise points on the day that you earn them...not "bank" them for extra special treats (that's what the 35 points is for).
My best advice...just keep on truckin...keep your eyes on the prize. Its hard to not let set backs like not losing weight in a couple of weeks rattle us...but these are only minor setbacks. It took us years to get where we are...so, don't expect it (weight loss) to happen overnight. Take a deep breath and keep moving forward. Eventually it will catch up with you...so, don't give up. I know how frustrating it can be to feel like you've been working so hard and not seen a reward. I know that if you keep on working hard, the reward will come.
I do find it helpful to go to the meetings, so when you're able, I would recommend going back to them. They're helpful in that you get great tips from other members and have that ever important support team.
I really appreciate the feedback...keep me posted on how well you're doing. Remember...eyes on the prize.
